Why does the 3-2-1.club voting form collect votes the way it does?

Almost everyone who looked at this system prior to it’s launch commented that it would be great to add all the votes at the same time. And you know what… I agree
…but there’s a reason for our perceived madness.
If we were to design a form to capture votes and have say, a dropdown field listing players who got themselves 3 votes, another dropdown for 2 votes and so on, then we’d actually end up with votes and players across say 6 columns. Also you’d have to update the players listed in the dropdown three times!
“So what?” I can hear you say.
Well, here’s the thing, the 3-2-1 voting system captures all the names in one column and the votes in another column.
“So what?” I can hear you say.
Well, the difference is at the end of the season when it’s time to tally the votes.
